Q. How does Taulia support e-invoicing in different countries?

The information below details how Taulia supports e-invoicing at a per country basis:


Invoicing Compliance offered via Taulia

Invoicing compliance via Taulia encompasses both Post Audit and Clearance models. Post Audit models are mainly used in countries within the European Union and the Commonwealth, while Clearance regimes are particularly emerging in LATAM and APAC. In addition, some hybrid models have been implemented recently in Portugal, where enhanced reporting is required. In order to provide a compliant e-Invoicing solution for supplier organizations on the Taulia business network, Taulia enforces validation mechanisms and partners with specialized service providers to support a variety of signing certificates, allowing for digitally signed invoices that ensure authenticity and integrity, while complying with applicable law.

Data Capture Services offered via Taulia 

The transmission of invoice data from a supplier and the subsequent delivery to the buyer is an efficient way to capture essential invoice data electronically but does not guarantee the creation of a tax-compliant, legal invoice.

In countries where specific requirements exist for tax-compliant, legal invoices, the buyer remains responsible for taking any necessary legal and tax advice to confirm that no legal or local restrictions apply that would prevent a supplier from transmitting the invoice data electronically, or the buyer entity from receiving the supplier invoice data via the Taulia business network. Also, the buyer has to have a process in place to ensure that the buyer will receive a legal invoice from its supplier (e.g., a paper invoice may still be required in some countries).

In addition, countries that do not have mandatory requirements for electronic invoicing at this time can be activated at a buyer's request on Taulia. Taulia will then enable a mechanism for suppliers located in a country on the following to transmit invoice data to Taulia and from there to the buyer.

Invoicing Services Legal Certainty, Qualification and Service Provider Support

Taulia will only support new countries for tax-compliant electronic invoicing once we have a basis for legal certainty in that country/jurisdiction. As the landscape changes, Taulia and its specialized service providers are continually adding support for more countries. 

The countries where buyer entities are currently not supported, but may be supported in the future for receipt or submission of cross-border invoice data or domestic invoice data or both, once a basis for legal certainty has been determined by Taulia and Taulia and its specialized service providers have determined that they are qualified to provide services, and have added support for that country’s electronic invoicing legal framework, are shown below.
